Definitely worth a visit just for the atmosphere. Lots of food options and drinks.

It's not a typical restaurant where you are seated by a server. You just walk in, look around and order food at the counter. They give you a ticket and you go to a check out counter (different from where you order the food) and pay. Then you just wait and grab your food when your name is called.

This would be a good place for a weekend brunch.

This place is like a mini mall, you have coffee, sandwich shop, dessert, cold deli, trinkets and food you can buy or even gifts. There’s tons of options for food depending on your taste and have quite a bit of seating. You grab and order what you want then at the end you pay for everything at the register, wonderful place!

I've heard of Elephants Delicatessen for years and have always wanted to try it. Finally, I did. When I walked in, I was blown away. It's so beautiful and unusual inside, I was excited. Maybe what I ordered was too mundane. Maybe they are best with some of their more exotic foods. I don't know, but I ordered a favorite of mine...a BLT...and was disappointed. It just wasn't tasty. It wasn't bad, but it was just not tasty. The bread was very hard. It should have been more lightly toasted. Even though it wasn't burnt or anything, with bread so hard, the toast should be really light. And not enough of anything was on the sandwich. I will try this place again though, because there are many choices, and as I said the place inside is wonderful. I was in a hurry but would like to explore the other choices sometime.

This is a great place to try if you are not sure what you’re in the mood for. There are many different options. The staff were amazing. As soon as I walked in, a staff member greeted me, explained the process of how the different counters work, and gave me a recommendation. I had the fried chicken sandwich and a chocolate chip cookie. There was plenty of space to dine in. The sandwich was amazing and full of flavor. I wasn’t a fan of the fries. The cookie was perfect. I will definitely be back.

Perfect spot to catch up with friends.
Breakfast,lunch, dinner. Togo options. Full bar. Outdoor seating available. A nice gift selection too. You could buy a bottle of wine to go aswell.

I have to disagree with some of the comments here.
I came randomly few times and everything I tried was just excellent. For example I tried most of their soups and I think they are the backbone of this whole establishment. So you shoukd startwith that.
Another good fresh dish is the calamari and I could name some others.
Tried the green chicken enchilada: did not liked it but the dish was fresh, just not on my taste. So watch out at how reviwers confuse their personal taste with how fresh and well done the food is.

In other words Elephant is one of the 3 places with a strong presence in Portland area and they are fresh, reliable and have competitve prices.
Strongly recomend them.

P.S.: coffee in all their places was really bad and sour.
